DALLAS -– The Dallas Mavericks aren’t trying to mold Rodrigue Beaubois solely into a
point guard.
Coach Rick Carlisle believes the four-year veteran can be very adapt at both backcourt positions.
“I don’t really see it as he’s got to do this amount of time, or that (at one position),’’ Carlisle said. “He’s got to be a basketball player and know how to play both positions.’’
Beaubois has mostly played shooting guard during his first three seasons with the Mavs, and Carlisle has been pleased with the progress he made at that position. He also likes what he’s seen from Beaubois during the first three days of training camp.
“He’s been real good in training camp so far,’’ Carlisle said. “He needs to continue that momentum.
“I really feel like the work that he did this summer is going to bear fruit for him.’’
The oft-injured Beaubois said he feels fresh after entering the past two training camps with foot injuries. He also believes if he can stay healthy that he can finally have a break-out season.
“Everybody wants to be able to play, and when you’re healthy you can play better,’’ Beaubois said. “I’m just trying to push myself and push everybody to get better.’’
