DALLAS – Leave it to Dirk Nowitzki to inform his Dallas Mavericks teammates that they may experience some problems catching up on sleep for the next week while in Berlin and Barcelona.
Both Berlin and Barcelona are seven hours ahead of Fort Worth, and Nowitzki admits there could be some issues getting adjusted to the time zone change.
“Usually going that way is actually worst because you get in (to Berlin at 9:25) in the morning and you’re really tired and you’ve got to fight through the whole day,’’ Nowitzki said. “Coming back (to the states) you’ll be getting home in the afternoon and you only have to fight for a couple of hours
to go to bed.
“Going there is going to be a little harder. I think we’re going to try to get some sleep on the plane.’’
On Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT, the Mavs open preseason play against Alba Berlin in Berlin, Germany.
Then, next Tuesday at 2 p.m. CDT in Barcelona, Spain, the Mavs will tangle with FC Barcelona Regal.
“I think Berlin is a great city,’’ said Nowitzki, who was born in Germany. “I think we’re going to enjoy it.
“And Barcelona is fun as well, so I think it’s a good trip. It’s going to be a little stressful with the time change.’’
