Tonight is a homecoming for Darren Collison

LOS ANGELES – Darren Collison grew up in Southern California and played basketball for UCLA.

So, tonight’s regular season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers is a homecoming of sorts for the Dallas Mavericks point guard.

“Its always fun to play at home in front of family and friends,’’ Collison said after this morning’s shootaround at Loyola Marymount University. “But right now my focus is on winning games, and this is the start of a new season where we’ve got to win games.

“This is a big test for me and everybody else.’’
