NEW YORK -- Darren Collison doesn't care that folks are making a big deal about his matchup tonight against New York Knicks point guard Jason Kidd.
When Kidd shunned the Dallas Mavericks this past summer to sign a free agent contract with the Knicks, Collison was brought in to pick up the pieces Kidd left behind. But that doesn't necessarily mean Collison has targeted tongiht;s game at Madison Squard Garden as a way of showing the Mavs they are better off with him than with Kidd.
"Anybody who I'm matching up against I''m always looking forward to the challenge,'' Collison said. "Jason Kidd has always been a player that I looked up to as a point guard and he's been a good player for the league.
"I'm always looking for a challenge anybody I play -- even Jason Kidd.''
