DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks guard Dahntay Jones has never been a player who fill up the stat sheet with some gaudy numbers. His contributions goes way beyond mere numbers.
Jones' aggressive demeanor and hardcore defense is the primary reason he's been able to make a living in the NBA for 10 years.
"I like his toughness, his defensive energy,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "He’s given us some scoring at times, but really more than anything he brings attitude and physical toughness to the game.
"And so I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him particularly in the last three games.''
Jones is averaging only 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game, and is shooting 26.7 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point territory. Carlisle said Jones may have earned himself some more playing time with the way he's played lately.
