DALLAS -- This is turning into ex-Dallas Mavericks assistant coach week for the Mavs.
Tonight, the Mavs will host Terry Stotts and the Portland Trail Blazers at 7:30 at American Airlines Center. And on Wednesday the Mavs will entertain Dwane Casey and the Toronto Raptors.
Stotts and Casey both were assistant coaches recently on coach Rick Carlisle's staff. Casey was with Carlisle and the Mavs from 2008 until the Raptors hired him on June 21, 2011, and Stotts was with the Mavs and Carlisle from 2008 until the Blazers hired him this past Aug. 7.
Carlisle is very receptive to his assistants being afforded NBA head coaching jobs.
"It means we've done good things here, and those guys have been very deserving of the opportunity,'' Carlisle said after this morning''s shootaorund at the AAC. "And they're doing great jobs in those situations.
"We wish them well, and it's tough competition when you're going against good coaching and good teams.''
