DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks will be very thin on the frontline when they host the Toronto Raptors tonight at 7:30 at American Airlines Center.
In addition to already having forward Dirk Nowitzki out because of right knee surgery, the Mavs will be without forward Shawn Marion, who has a sprained left medial collateral ligament. Also, forward/center Elton Brand will miss tonight's contest because he flew to New York to be with his wife, who is slated to give birth tonight.
The loss of Nowitzki, Marion and Brand could possibly mean more minutes tonight for Chris Kaman, Brandan Wright, Troy Murphy and Bernard James. Coach Rick Carlisle, however, said he doesn't want to run up Kaman's minutes because he hasn't practiced a lot due to a sprained lower back and strained right calf.
Kaman has played just two games and socred 32 points in only 44 minutes.
Meanwhile, if Brand's wife has the baby by Friday afternoon, he should be available to play in the Mavs' game later that night in New York against the Knicks.
