DALLAS -- During his pre-game press conference at American Airlines Center, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said guard Derek Fisher would not play in tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers because of the flu.
A few minutes later, Fisher surprised the media when he walked into the Mavs' locker room in his customary workout shorts. Fisher then declared that his temperature was high, but that he was going to visit with the team doctor to see whether he could play tonight.
"This came up this morning,'' Carlisle saidof Fisher's illness. "He called in and had a temperature and aches and stuff.
"He didn’t come to shoot around. We just hope he gets it knocked out of him as soon as possible because we know how valuable he's been to us.''
