BOSTON -- During his eight-year tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, guard Jason Terry used to glide around the court -- in airplane fashion -- to get the American Airlines Center crowd all fired up.
It was his "The Jet's on the runway'' moment.
But the Jet is off the runway now that he plays for the Boston Celtics. However, when Terry played for Dallas, he was a fierce competitor who didn't mind speaking his mind.
So much so that Terry even boldly said Miami's LeBron James couldn't guard him when the Mavs played the Heat in the NBA Finals. That in-your-face comment is what owner Mark Cuban liked best about Terry.
"I didn’t think about it all at,'' Cuban said, referring to Terry's comments about James. "I’m not one of those people that thinks, ‘Now that’s going to pump (LeBron) up.'
"We’re in the Finals and he wasn’t pumped up enough.''
Asked if Terry gave the Mavs some swagger, "I don’t know about swagger. He wasn’t calling guys out all the time.
"He might make snarky little comments all the time. I guess it got to the point where you didn’t even notice.''
