DALLAS -- When Dallas Mavericks guard OJ Mayo scored a career-high tying 40 points this past Saturday in Houston, forward Shawn Marion wasn't on the bench for the shooting spree.
Marion was on the inactive list for the game because of a strained right groin muscle. He also wasn't on the bench, because NBA rules requires players to wear a jacket if they sit on the bench in street clothes.
And Marion didn't have a jacket with him.
"He was on fire last game,'' Marion said of Mayo. "It was exciting to watch from the back.
"I wish I could have been out there cheering. But I didn’t have a jacket.''
