BOSTON -- Jason Terry knows this year's Dallas Maverick squad bears very little resemblance to the one he helped win the 2011 NBA championship.
"They've got the same team name, but it’s not the same team,'' Terry said. "That was last year, we didn’t have the same team (as the title team) or we’d still be there.''
Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, Rodrigue Beaubois and Dominique Jones are the only players still with the Mavs who were teammates of Terry's on the 2011 championship team. But Nowitzki and Marion were the only ones of the aforementioned foursome who played significant minutes.
And Nowitzki (knee) won't play Wednesday when the Mavs meet the Celtics at 7 p.m. at TD Garden. A strained right groin may also keep Marion in street clothes.
"So it’s a totally different ballclub,'' Terry said. "Dirk’s not even in uniform, Shawn Marion may not be out there.
"Those are the guys I won a championship with and they’re not there. Definitely a different team, but the same name.''
