DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks assigned point guard Jared Cunningham to the Texas Legends of the National Basketball Development League on Tuesday.
A rookie from Oregon State, Cunningham played in just seven games for the Mavs this season and averaged only 2.3 points in 3.4 minutes per game. Cunningham's first game with the Legends will be Saturday night at 7 against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco.
Cunningham was battling Derek Fisher, Darren Collison, Rodrigue Beaubois and Dominique Jones for playing time at the point guard position, and there clearly isn't enough minutes to go around.
