WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On second thought, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle has backtracked on his decision to start suspending players if they weren't playing up to their capabilities.
After the San Antonio Spurs clobbered the Mavs, 111-86, Sunday in Dallas, Carlisle said: “In the last week I had to literally scream in the face of two guys in practices and shoot arounds to get the point across, and I will do that, and I will continue to do that.
“If I have to start suspending guys for not doing things that they’re supposed to be doing on the court, I’ll do it.''
However, prior to Tuesday's game against the Washington Wizards, Carlisle backtracked and said:
"There’s no threat of suspension. We talked about some things the other tonight after the game (against the Spurs), but nobody’s getting suspended.''
