LOS ANGELES -- Any guards thinking about going down low and posting up Mike James, the 6-2,
195-pounder said they may want to re-think that idea.
"You can't easily post me up, even with the quick guards,'' James said. "It's still not going to be easy for a quick guard just to get past me.''
James, who the Dallas Mavericks signed to a 10-day contract Tuesday, noted that he has made it a point throughout his career to pay more attention to the defensive end of the floor than the offensive end.
"That's one thing I've always pride myself on is on defense, where I'm not going to allow myself to be embarrassed on the defensive end,'' James said. "So I always focused on how I'm playing defensively.
"Offense can come and go, but defense is about heart and desire, and that's one thing I've always played with is heart and desire. So defensively I'm always going to be able to take the challenge.''
