SAN FRANCISCO -- Donnie Nelson, the president of basketball operations for the Dallas Mavericks, said they were never going to be part of a three-team trade that would have had the Mavs trading Vince Carter with Dallas receiving point guard Jose Calderon in return.
And coach Rick Carlisle said any trade rumors are just part of a way of life for any NBA player.
“I don’t know anything about any rumors about trades,” Carlisle said. “I’m not on the Internet all the time.
"I’m focusing on our team and the next game. We got a bunch of guys who are professionals and they know what this business is about. Whatever rumors there are, they’re part of it.”
Carter, 36, earns $3.5 million this season and has been a very viable contributor to the Mavs this year.
The trade deadline is Feb. 21
