WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Dallas Mavericks finally got themselves a victory.
The Mavs opened the new year Tuesday by beating the Washington Wizards,103-94, snapping a six-game losing streak in the process. Dallas is now 13-19 going into Wednesday night's game in Miami against the Heat.
Vince Carter led the Mavs with 23 points, Darren Collison had 15 points and eight assists, OJ Mayo finished with 15 points and five assists, Chris Kaman scored 12, Shawn Marion picked up 11 points and 13 boards, and Dirk Nowitxki collected 11 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
It was the Mavs' first win since they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 107-100, on Dec. 18.
Washington (4-25) was led by Bradley Beal, who scored 22 points.
