DALLAS -- Delonte West has gotten another opportunity to play some basketball.
After a failed attempt with the Dallas Mavericks this season, West signed a contract with the Texas Legends of the NBA's Development League on Friday. The 6-4, 180-pound point guard will play his first game for the Legends on Feb. 1 when they host Santa Cruz.
West, 29, was on target to play for the Mavs for a second straight year earlier this season. But he was suspended twice for conduct detrimental to the team during preseason and was finally released on Oct. 29.
In 44 games for the Mavs during last year's lockout-shorten season, West averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists in 24.1 minutes per game, and also started 33 games. West, who entered the NBA in 2004, has career averages of 9.7 points, 3.6 assists and 27.4 minutes in 432 games.
