DALLAS -- Rick Carlisle doesn't want to disrespect the basketball gods by talking about the All-Star break before the All-Star break is actually here.
And for the Dallas Mavericks, the All-Star break doesn't arrive until after tonight's home game against the Sacramento Kings, which tips off at 7:30 at American Airlines Center.
"I'm not going to talk about the break until the game's over,'' Carlisle said after this morning's shoot around. "You start talking about things in the future you're going to lose your focus on what's important right now.''
The Mavs are owners of a 22-29 record, and the way Carlisle sees is, they don't have the right to looking past anyone.
"We've been too inconsistent to give ourselves the luxury of talking about what's going to happen in a day or two or three or four or five,'' Carlisle said. "We've got to stay moment to moment and whistle to whistle.
"That's the only way we're going to survive.''
