OAKLAND -- The Dallas Mavericks lost for the third time in the past four games when they dropped a 100-97 decision to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night at ORACLE Arena.
The Mavs are now 19-27 on the season and will play at Phoenix on Friday beofre finishing this four-game road trip Monday in Oklahoma City.
The Mavs played without forward Dirk Nowitzki, who discovered before the game that he has a strained right adductor. It's the first game Nowitzki has missed since returning Dec. 23 after missing 27 games when he underwent right knee surgery on Oct. 19.
Dallas had a chance to tie the game with 43 seconds left, but OJ Mayo split his two free throws, leaving the Mavs behind, 98-97. Then, the Mavs had an opportunity to take the lead, but Brandan Wright's short jumper was blocked by Andrew Bogut with 12 seconds to go.
Jarrett Jack then hit a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining to give the Warriors a 100-97 lead. Vince Carter then missed a potential game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.
Mayo led the Mavs with 25 points, Carter scored 22, and Shawn Marion had 18 points and a season-high 17 rebounds.
