DALLAS -- The only way the Dallas Mavericks are doing to dig themselves out of this deep, dark hole they've gotten themselves in is by grabbing a shovel and attacking it one game at a time.
At least that's what Vince Carter said after this morning's shoot around at American Airlines Center.
"I hope we win them all -- that's what I hope -- to get us back in the playoff race where we want to be,'' Carter said. "I think that was an obvious answer.
"I don't hope we play bad. We're trying to get ourselves back in the race -- we put ourselves in a hole and we're trying to climb back out.''
After a 99-93 road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 9, the Mavs were holding a dismal 13-23 record. They've since made up four games and will carry a 22-28 record into tonight's 7:30 p.m. contest at the AAC against the Atlanta Hawks.
"We're playing better basketball, we're a very confident team,'' Carter said. "I think everybody is really in-tuned in what we're trying to accomplish, particularly down the line.
"It's not about looking down the line -- I'll leave that for you to look down the line. One game at a time has been our focus and that's really helped us.''
