DALLAS -- This past Saturday, Donnie Nelson assured three members of the media that the Dallas Mavericks will not make any trades by the Feb. 21 trading deadline unless it's an "over the top'' deal.
After this morning's shoot around at American Airlines Center, coach Rick Carlisle joined in on the party.
"If you're asking me if we're going to trade anybody, I don't think we're going to,'' Carlisle said. "That's my opinion.
"I don't think we're going to trade (Shawn) Marion, I don't think we're going to trade Vince (Carter), I don't think we're going to trade anybody. That's my opinion.''
Carter and Marion have been rumored to be on the trading block, but Mavs management have bent over backwards to refute those rumors.
Carlisle, meanwhile, said sometimes he has input on trades, but mostly that's left to owner Mark Cuban and Nelson, the team's president of basketball operations.
"Sometimes Mark and Donnie just pull the trigger on deals and I don't know about it, and sometimes they ask me,'' Carlisle said. "But that's OK.
"The job description was made clear to me when I came here. Mark and Donnie do a lot of work to see what things make sense for us.''
