PHOENIX -- There have been three games this season with under a minute left when guard OJ Mayo found himself at the free throw line with a chance to tie the game or put the Dallas Mavericks ahead.
But on all three occasions, Mayo failed to deliver the goods.
It happened again Thursday night in Oakland when Mayo could have tied the game at 98-98 with 43 seconds left had he made a pair of free throws. Instead, Mayo split the two freebies and the Mavs went on to lose to the Golden State Warriors, 100-97.
"I guess I'm (bleeping) choking, huh?,'' Mayo asked after the mavs fell to 19-27. "Hopefully I get that again (tonight against Phoenix) just like that.
"We wouldn't have been in that positon if I would have made a damn free throw.''
The same hand was dealt Mayo when he missed late key free throws in close losses to Philadelphia and Oklahoma City.
