BROOKLYN -- Vince Carter and Dirk Nowitzki tallied 20 points apiece Friday night and the Dallas Mavericks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 98-90 win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.
The Mavs led 86-66 with 8:23 left, but the Nets rallied and got within 93-88 on a drive by CJ Watson, and eventually were only down 94-90 atfer Brook Lopez hit two free throws with 37.4 seconds left.
But Vince Carter, OJ Mayo and Mike James all split a pair of free throws to give the Mavs a 96-90 lead withy 20.8 seconds remaining.
Deron Williams, who decided to re-sign with the Nets last summer when he became a free agemt instead of returning home to play for the Mavs, led Brooklyn with 24 points and two assists.
Also for the Mavs, Mayo scored 17 points.
