SAN ANTONIO -- Tim Duncan scored 28 points as the San Antonio Spurs snapped the Dallas Mavericks' four-game winning streak Thursday with a 92-91 victory at the AT&T Center.
The Spurs thus swept the season series from the Mavs, 4-0, for the first time since the 1997-'98 season. The Spurs (50-16) also have won at least 50 games in one year for the 14th straight season.
The Mavs could have won the game, but Vince Carter missed a three-pointer at the buzzer. Dallas ended up with a 3-1 record on this eight-day road trip
The Mavs (30-34) now go home for games Friday against Cleveland and Sunday against Oklahoma City before hitting the road again to play Monday in Atlanta.
San Antonio took a 92-84 lead with 2:37 left following a three-pointer by Kawhi Leonard. But the Mavs got a basket from OJ Mayo, a three-pointer from Carter and a bucket by Dirk Nowitzki to pull wihtin 91-92 with 28.2 seconds left.
Manu Ginobili mised a short jumper for the Spurs, and that set the stage for the dramatic ending which the Mavs couldn't pull off.
Nowitzki led the Mavs with 21 points and 11 reobunds, and Darren Collison had 12 points.
