DALLAS -– DeJuan Blair made a note to tell the media after Saturday’s practice that if he gets minutes, he will produce.
Count on it, according to Blair.
When reminded that he seems to always had a great game against the Dallas Mavericks when he played for the San Antonio Spurs, Blair said: “I plan on having a lot of them.
“That’s what minutes given to me will do. That’s pretty much what you get, and getting in my groove and just playing period.
“We’re going to see what minutes can get me.’’
Now with the Mavs, Blair will likely get more than his share of minutes now that backup center/power forward Brandan Wright will be sidelined indefinitely with a small non-displaced fracture of his left shoulder. Wright's absence affords Blair a chance to show the coaches how effective he can be.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for me, and for me to learn the system more and for me to learn both the (power forward and center positions),’’ Blair said. “We’re going to miss him, but I’ll try to take up all the slack.
“It’s going to be a lot of work, but it’s also going to be fun at the same time. This is what I always wanted. I hate that it comes like this, but that’s how the ball rolls.’’
