HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets plan on starting both Dwight Howard and Omer Asik on their frontline tonight at 7 when they play the Dallas Mavericks at the Toyota Center.
Howard is 6-11 and 255 pounds, and Asik is 7-feet and 255 pounds.
On paper, it looks like a distinct advantage for the Rockets, and a case can be made that it is. However, either Howard or Asik will have to spend some time running out to the three-point line to chase down Mavs forward Dirk Nowitzki, one of the game's best court stretchers.
"Somebody's got to do something,'' forward Shawn Marion said. "If we're able to get the ball out there and we're able to run down the floor, we can go, too, as well, because the bigger you are the slower you are.''
More than likely it'll be Howard guarding Nowitzki since Asik isn't exactly a speed merchant.
"My first year, I checked (Nowitzki) a lot,'' Howard said after this morning's shoot around. "I haven’t checked him since.''
