DALLAS -- After his team's 98-77 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Friday's preseason finale, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle learned a lot about his team.
And not a lot what he learned was very good.
"We've got a lot of work to do,'' Carlisle said following Saturday's practice. "We did some good things, but Indiana makes it hard for you at both ends, and there’s some things we’ve got to respond better to.''
The Mavs shot just 37 percent from the field, were outrebounded 53-43, and made only 4-of-14 baskets from three-point range. All of those numbers are a recipe for disaster.
"When you turn it over 20-plus times you’re going to get beat, so we can’t do that,'' Carlisle said. "We’ve got to all play within our abilities and play hard within our abilities.''
