DALLAS -- After the Dallas Mavericks lost the rebounding battle to Orlando, 54-32, this past Monday, coach Rick Carlisle challenged them to step up their game Wednsday against the Indiana Pacers.
Consider the challenge a success.
Not only the Mavs outrebound the Pacers, 48-46. They also were able to block nine shots, including four by center Samuel Dalembert.
"Coach was asking for a bit more activity around the rim for us and we took the challenge,'' said Dalembert, who also contributed nine points and eight rebounds against the Pacers. "As a big, we
took the challenge.
"We've still got stuff to work on, but we responded.''
The Mavs (2-2) hope to respond again Saturday night at 6:30 when they face the Charlotte Bobcats at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. From Dalembert's standpoint, it's all about sending a message.
"That’s what we're about to do,'' Dalembert said. "When we do control what we can control, we'll go out there and make it happen and do our best.''
