MEMPHIS -- It took just one game for Gal Mekel to get a special one-on-one session in the film room with Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle.
Mekel committed five turnovers against New Orleans in this past Monday's 94-92 preseason-opening loss to the Pelicans. That prompted Carlisle to sit the rookie down and go over a few things.
The Mavs turned the ball over 28 times against the Pelicans. And the Memphis Grizzlies -- the Mavs face the Grizzlies at 7 tonight at the FedEx Forum --are the type of defensive team that could make Mekel's life totally miserable again.
"I spent a lot of time with Gal (Tuesday) night watching film with him about our game (against Memphis) last year and what works and what doesn’t work in terms of ball security,'' Carlisle said. "We talked to everybody about our overall turnover situation in the first game.
"So he’ll be ready tonight.''
After that piece of information, Carlisle wasn't too keen on re-living the nightmare Mekel experienced against the Pelicans.
"That game is over,'' he said. "It’s time to move on to this game (against Memphis).
"I’m not big on post mortem and regurgitating past stuff. We looked at everything in Game 1 and now we've got Game 2.''
