MEMPHIS -- For those inquisitive minds, Gal Mekel has figured out why he has piled up a whopping nine turnovers in the Dallas Mavericks' first two preseason games.
The rookie point guard blames it on him trying to get accustomed to playing in the NBA after he previously spent his entire pro career playing basketball in Italy and Israel.
"Some things that I'm used to in the European game -- those travels, those carries -- you're not going to see those calls in Europe,'' Mekel said after Wednesday's 95-90 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedEx Forum. "But I have to adjust and get used to this game.
"It's not something dramatic. It's just getting used to the NBA game and to those rules, and I'll do it.''
Mekel had four turnovers against the Grizzlies after turning the ball over five times in Monday's 94-92 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
