DALLAS -- DeJuan Blair will start tonight's game against Denver in place of the injured Samuel Dalembert.
X-rays taken after this past Saturday's game in Denver showed that Dalembert has bruised ribs. Dalembert said he first suffered the injury during a Nov. 12 home game against Washington and that things got so bad Saturday that he asked to be pulled from the game against Denver.
“Because it was hurting so bad I was kind of worried,’’ Dalembert said. “I said just let’s do an X-ray just to see if there’s anything.
“And they said it’s a bad bruise and you just need time, ice it a lot and let it heal a little bit.’’
After getting double-digit rebounds in three consecutive games, Dalembert had a season-low three rebounds and a season-low three points in Saturday's game.
If Dalembert doesn't play tonight, Bernard James will likely be the first backup center off the bench.
It's not known if Dalembert will play tonight. But he is in uniform.
