HOUSTON -- Jose Calderon must have left his shooting stroke back overseas.
In his two games thus far for the Dallas Mavericks, Calderon is a miserable 1-of-15 from the field, including just 1-of-8 from three-point range. He also has produced as many points (five) as turnovers (five).
During Friday's 113-105 loss to the Houston Rockets, Calderon missed all eight of his field goals -- and all three of his three-pointers -- and didn't score any points. The Mavs' point guard did manufacture six assists, but his lack of scoring has to be of concern to the Mavs.
Coach Rick Carlisle said he believes Calderon still doesn't have his legs back yet after he spent the last portion of the summer playing competitive basketball in his native country of Spain. He also missed the first four preseason games with a strained hamstring.
"I've got to do a better job of helping him get better shots,'' Carlisle said. "I'll take a lot of responsibility for that.''
