ORLANDO -- That gameday walk-through the Dallas Mavericks had on Saturday in Orlando took on a much classier look than normal.
That's because the walk-through took place on the basketball court at Vince Carter's sprawling estate in the tony gated community of Iseworth. It's the same neighborhood where Shaquille O'Neal, Jameer Nelson, Grant Hill, Wesley Snipes and pro golfer Bubba Watson reside.
"It's always good to go home,'' said Carter, who scored 12 points in Saturday's 108-100 win over Orlando. "I get to invite the guys over and we can have a walk-through like that, and guys get to relax.
"But we were still focused on the game and we were still able to come out and play good basketball. It's always my pleasure.''
Back on Feb. 23, 2012, Carter held a $30,000 a plate fundraiser at his home for President Barack Obama. Those who attended that event included owner Mark Cuban, NBA commissioner David Stern, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul and ex-Miami Heat cenetr Alonzo Mourning.
Saturday's walk-through also was special.
"He's got a spread, he's got a resort out there,'' said Dirk Nowitzki, who tallied 18 points Saturday. "It's great for him.
"It was great bonding. Like I said, we do have a lot of new guys and every minute we can spend together on the road is great. We had a little film session, we talked a little bit and we had some breakfast, so it was great.''
