DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki tipped his cap to the way shooting guard Monta Ellis was the catalyst in the second half of Monday's 97-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
While the Mavs were floundering offensively and appeared on the brink of being embarrassed by the Sixers, Ellis stepped forth to tally 19 of his 24 points in the second half and help Dallas improve to 5-0 at home and 7-4 overall.
"He really brought us home there, I thought, even in the fourth (quarter) with his playmaking,'' Nowitzki said. "We were running every play for him -- pick-and-rolls.
"He was fantastic there in the fourth either with the scoring for himself or finding the shooters and finding Sammy (Dalembert) with a helluva bounce pass under the basket where he dunked it. He was a great phenomenal playmaker for us and that’s what he’s been doing all season long.''
Ellis has scored at least 18 points in all 11 games for the Mavs this season.
