MINNEAPOLIS --The Dallas Mavericks remained winless on the road this season as they dropped a 116-108 decision to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night at the Target Center.
Now 0-2 on this road trip, the Mavs (3-3) will complete their three-game road trip Saturday night in Milwaukee at 7:30 against the Bucks before returning home to host Washington on Tuesday.
A driving layup by Monta Ellis got the Mavs within 105-102 with over three minutes left. But Kevin Love nailed a three-pointer and followe dthat up with a fallaway jumper from the corner over the outstretched arms of Shawn Marion to give Minnesota a 110-102 lead with 1:13 left.
Ellis led the Mavs with 23 points, Jose Calderon trallied 21, Dirk Nowitzki finished with 14, and Shawn Marion and Jae Crowder each popped in 10 points.
Love led the Timberwolves with 32 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, Kevin Martin scored 32, Corey Brewer had 17 and Nikola Pekovic collected 15 points and six boards.
The Mavs were without forward Vince Carter, who the NBA suspended from Friday's game without pay because he elbowed Oklahoma City's Steven Adams in the head during this past Wednesday's game.
Minnesota led 28-24 after the first period, but the Mavs bolted ahead 56-55 at the half. The Timberwolves ceased control in the third quarter as they took an 85-81 lead into the fourth period.
Overall, the Mavs failed to deal with the pressure Love and Martin presented.
