DALLAS -- Rick Carlisle admits there are some similarities between Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki and Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
"But he's a different kind of player than Dirk,'' the Mavs' coach said. "They do some of the same things, but (Aldridge is) really killing it in the post right now.
"We don’t post Dirk as much as they post him. He's a great post player.''
Aldridge, a native of Seagoville, averages 9.7 rebounds and is seventh in the NBA in scoring at 23.5 points per game. He's made a big impression on Carlisle, who regularly votes for the Blazer superstar to play in the All-Star game.
"Right now he's as good as anybody in the league,'' Carlisle said. "His efficiency on the block has got to be second to none right now.
"He’s in a phenomenal groove right now.''
The Mavs (12-8) will face Aldridge and the Blazers (16-3) at 9 p.m. Saturday in Portland.
