CHICAGO -- Dallas Mavericks center Brandan Wright doesn't know how he picked up his stomach illness. But he plans to play tonight when the Mavs face the Chicago Bulls at 7 at the United Center.
Wright went through this morning's shootaround and, although admittedly not 100 percent, he's ready to match wits tonight with the rugged Bulls.
"I feel better,'' Wright said. "I should be good enough to go tonight.
"My stomach feel a little funny, but I should be good enough to play.''
Coach Rick Carlisle appreciates the fact that Wright will even attempt to play.
"He went through everything (in practice today),'' Carlisle said. "I don’t think he has his strength 100 percent back yet, but I expect him to suit up tonight and so that’s good.''
Wright's illness prevented him from playing in Thursday's loss to San Antonio and from practicing Friday. He said he doesn't know how he contracted his illness.
"I couldn’t tell you,'' Wright said. "We've got something going on around here.
"I'm just trying to stay healthy.''
Dirk Nowitzki, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington and Carlisle have all had a stomach illness in recent days/weeks.
Wright laughed when asked if he can even shake his teammates' hands without worrying about coming down with something?
"You've just got to be careful,'' he said. "We come into contact with so many people.
"We can easily get sick. It's all part of the game.''
