NEW ORLEANS -- Jose Calderon showed some true grit when he gutted out the past two games for the Dallas Mavericks over the past two nights.
Last Friday in Atlanta, Calderon suffered a bone bruise to his right ankle which forced him to miss last Saturday's 112-106 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Calderon, however, was determined to play Tuesday in Dallas against the Charlotte Bobcats and Wednesday in New Orleans against the Pelicans.
Against the Bobcats, Calderon responded with 12 points in 33 minutes, and against the Pelicans he added 12 points in 31 minutes.
Now about that ankle.
"It's sore, but I knew it was going to be sore for awhile,'' Calderon said after the 100-97 win over the Pelicans. "But just being able to help the team is good for me.
"I just feel it at some moments, but it's going to get better for sure. I knew it was going to be tough, but it was good.''
