DALLAS -- Jose Calderon has always gone out of his way to assist rookie point guards Gal Mekel and Shane Larkin with their transition to the NBA.
The mentoring by Calderon has been very helpful.
But there's one wish Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle has for his starting point guard.
"It helps out when he can play a lot,'' Carlisle said of Calderon. "Guys like him can help mentor the younger guys, and he does that.
"But I’m more concerned about him and his rehab than his mentoring right now, to be honest.’’
Calderon has a bone bruise on his right ankle which has forced him to be a gametime decision for Tuesday night's home game against Charlotte. The injury occurred last Friday in Atlanta.
