DALLAS -- Jose Calderon was Dwane Casey's starting point guard in Toronto from 2011 until he was traded to the Detroit Pistons this past Jan. 30.
Still, the two men have become fast friends.
But when the Raptors face the Dallas Mavericks at 7:30 tonight at American Airlines Center, that friendship will be placed on hold for two hours. That's because Calderon now is the starting point guard for the Mavs.
"I love Jose, but I'll see him this summer, I'll see him after the game,'' Casey said. "For those two hours we're on the court we're trying to kick their butts and they're trying to kick ours, and that's what's hard about the NBA.
"You have a lot of friends and relationships, but those two hours is your job, and that's how I look at it and I know that's how they look at it as a veteran team. We'll shake hands and be friends, but for those two hours between the lines you're trying to disrupt and take what they're trying to do to you.''
