DALLAS -- With Dirk Nowitzki missing this morning's shootaround because of a stomach illness, the Dallas Mavericks had to prepare as if their 11-time All-Star will not be able to play in tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Mavs were also without another one of their leaders, coach Rick Carlisle, who missed the shootaround with a stomach illness. That put pressure on others to make sure the shootaround went off without a hitch.
"The older guys picked it up a little bit in shootaround just to make sure we don't have a bad shootaround,'' forward Jae Crowder said. "We wanted to leave out on a good note and come in tonight ready to play.
"The older guys like Monta (Ellis) and (Shawn Marion), they really stepped it up on the energy side of it this morning.''
