MINNEAPOLIS -- Shawn Marion poured in a season-high 32 points and the Dallas Mavericks held off the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning 100-98 Monday night at the Target Center.
The Mavs (18-13) are now 2-0 on this three-game road trip which ends Wednesday in Washington, DC, against the Washington Wizards.
Not only did Marion impact the game on offense by converting 14-of-19 shots, he also produced the defensive play of the game. With the Timberwolves down by the final score, Marion stripped the ball from Kevin Love as the Minnesota All-Star was attempting a game-tying shot at the buzzer.
Other than Marion, the Mavs got 16 points from Dirk Nowitzki and 14 from Brandan Wright.
Love led the Timberwolves with 36 points and 11 rebounds, Kevin Martin scored 19, and Nikola Pekovic had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Marion drained back-to-back three-pointers to give the Mavs a 95-90 lead with 3:51 left. From there, the Mavs had to hold on and fight off the Wolves at the end.
