MINNEAPOLIS -- The extra cold weather is making the rounds in Minneapolis today, and the Dallas Mavericks are trying to make the best of it.
By staying inside as much as possible.
A shopping mall is attached to the Mavs' team hotel, so they can walk around inside or grab a bite to eat if necessary. That's especially convenient on a day like today, which has temperatures here at a minus-2 and headed to minus-15 tonight.
Forward Vince Carter, who played in Toronto from 1998-2004, said he noticed it was minus-35 degrees in Edmonton, Canada, today.
"It gets real cold in Toronto,'' Carter said. "My first day my rookie year it was a blizzard.
"The first day I landed in Toronto.''
Mostly, though, the Mavs just wear several layers of clothing whenever they have to venture outside to deal with the elements.
