NEW ORLEANS -- Dirk Nowitzki poured in 21 points Wednesday night to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 100-97 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at the New Orleans Arena.
The Mavs are now 12-8 on the season, while the Pelicans fell to 9-9.
Nowitzki hit a pair of free throws with eight seconds left to put the Mavs up 100-97. Ryan Anderson, who converted 14-of-22 three-pointers in the past two games, then missed a potential-tying three-pointer for New Orleans.
Besides Nowitzki, the Mavs got 15 points from Vince Carter, 14 from Monta Ellis, 12 each from Jose Calderon and DeJuan Blair, and 10 from Shawn Marion.
Jrue Holiday led the Pelicans with 26 points and nine assists, Ryan Anderson had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Al-Farouq Aminu collected 16 points and 21 rebounds.
The Mavs shot 43 percent form the field and held the Pelicans to 40.4 percent shooting. But the Pelicans enjoyed a whopping 58-38 advantage on the boards.
