DALLAS -- Dirk Nowitzki missed this morning's shootaround with a stomach illness and his status for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks is unclear.
So, if Nowitzki is unable to play, how will the Mavs cope without their 11-time All-Star?
"Play the guys we've got,'' assistant coach Monte Mathis said. "I think everybody will step up.
"I'm not sure if (Nowitzki's) going to be able to play tonight or not, he's ill right now, missed shootaround. But I think everybody will step up and fill the void and everybody's got to come together as a team. One guy can't do it, everybody's got to do it.''
That same premise apparently applies to the coaching staff. Since coach Rick Carlisle's status for tonight is also unclear because he missed shootaround with a stomach illness, the rest of the coaching staff may have to unite and coach against the Bucks.
Tipoff is at 7:30 at American Airlines Center.
