NEW ORLEANS -- If there's one particular trait the media likes about Dirk Nowitzki it's that the Dallas Mavericks' power forward is brutally honest.
So when asked during this morning's shootaround why was New Orleans Pelicans forward Al-Faroug Aminu able to grab 20 rebounds in each of the past two games against the Mavs, the forever bashful Nowitzki said: "I was guarding him. They started Ryan Anderson and (Shawn Marion) usually guards Ryan Anderson, and I got Aminu.
"They were saying I got him multiple contract extensions already by guarding him.''
In the final game of the season last year on Apr. 17, Aminu had 16 points and 20 rebounds in 34 minutes against the Mavs while converting 8-of-15 shots. In the first Pelicans-Mavs matchup this season on Dec. 4, Aminu had 16 points and 20 rebounds in 34 minutes while converting 8-of-17 shots.
