NEW ORLEANS -- Samuel Dalembert was disciplined because his sleeping issues have led him to be late for practice twice. But the Dallas Mavericks can ill-afford to sit one of their tallest players for too long.
Especially since they're having tremendous problems just trying to reobund the basketball.
"We need Sam,'' coach Rick Carlisle after this morning's shootaround at the New Orleans Arena. "We need all our guys.
"Right now our center position is a by-committee situation. With (Shawn) Marion out it's going to put (Brandan) Wright at the (power forward) position sometimes.''
Marion won't play tonight against New Orleans because of a right shoulder bruise and bruised upper ribs. Meanwhile, the 6-11 Dalembert got five rebounds in just 11 minutes during Wednesday's 112-90 loss to San Antonio and could see some additional time tonight at 7 when the Mavs meet the New Orleans Pelicans.
"There's a lot going on and we just have to have everybody ready,'' Carlisle said. "Guys got to step up in the absence of one of our best players.''
