PHOENIX -- Some 48 hours after the total disaster in Los Angeles that rocked the DFW area, the Dallas Mavericks are back in the saddle and ready to play another game.
When the Mavs (23-17) face the Phoenix Suns (22-16) at 8 tonight at the US Airways Center, they probably need to have some very short memories. That's because the Mavs just lost to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, 129-123, in devastating fashion in a game Dallas led 123-106 with 4:48 remaining.
Everything had to go wrong down for the Mavs the stretch in order for them to lose that game. And everything went wrong.
But the Mavs appeared to be upbeat after Friday morning's shootaround.
"Today is a new day,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "We've got a new opponent, this (Suns' team) is a team we’re right neck-and-neck with.
"The importance of the game goes without saying. We've just got to get ready to play.''
The Suns are seated seventh in the Western Conference standings, one game ahead of the Mavs.
