DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks forward Vince Carter turned 37 today. But somebody forgot to tell coach Rick Carlisle.
"I think he turned 38, doesn't he," Carlisle asked.
Told that Carter was just 37, Carlisle said: "Oh, 37. Oh shit, he's a lot younger than I thought. He's only 37?"
Carlisle said it's no surprise that Carter has still been able to be an effective player despite his advanced age.
"He's a gym rat, he loves to play, he works on the game, he works on his body,'' Carlisle said. "So it's not an accident that guys that work this hard have a chance to have this kind of longevity.
"He's obviously a big part of what we're doing.''
