NEW YORK -- Carmelo Anthony was practically in Dirk Nowitzki's chest when the Dallas Mavericks' 12-time All-Star drained a game-winning 19-footer at the buzzer Monday night at beat the New York Knicks 110-108 at Madison Square Garden.
"That shot right there, I felt like I couldn't do anything better (on defense),'' Anthony said. "He hit a tough shot.''
Nowitzki's shot hit the rim about three times before it bounced high in the air and then fell through the basket to help the Mavs complete a 3-0 sweep of this road trip and stretch their record to 35-23.
"After the first bounce I thought we were going to overtime,'' Anthony said. "It is like a needle popping a balloon -- it sucks all the air out of you.
"He hit a helluva shot. You can't take that away from him.''
